Kris Breaks

Born in Leith, the home of Trainspotting, Kris first noticed music on the constantly playing radio, when he heard Bill Withers’ Lovely Day. Hating formal learning, he rejected the guitar at 11. A year later, when Irish folk band Pure Blind Panic moved in next door he ask singer guitarist Vincent Swan if he would teach him, he agreed and 3 months of turning up as much as he could and feeding Vincent’s cats when they were on tour (the band, not the cats), he started teaching himself. Many bands (riot grrrl band Batfink, hip hop metal band Blunht, retro 80s / drum n bass / hip hop band Magenta Placenta to name a few) and years later he started producing his own music on a fostex cassette 4 track. Around this time he was drawn to DJing and pushed that via running free regular parties, playing everything from techno, breaks, house to hip hop, jazz, jungle, footwork. In the past few years, he’s been writing trippy, psychedelic, breaks, garage, drum funk, jungle and working in Lisbon recording singers for a set of songs based in Bossa Nova, Samba, Brazilian jazz and UK dance culture. First single ‘Headspin’ is a story of love. Second single ‘ICU’ he wrote for his second eldest son JamesX. Single 3 ‘Airmax’ out 15th Jan 2021 is another song of love, fun, friendship and shoes.
