Janet Blair discovered songwriting while grieving the unexpected death of a child. What dropped like an epiphany in the middle of another sleepless night became her first complete composition. ("For Shania" from Songs for the Waiting) Janet began writing voraciously, leaving behind two professional symphonic oboe positions.
Her path has brought her to working with Matthew Odmark (Jars of Clay), Sara Groves, and Peter Katis (The National, Jonsi), playing in front of crowds of 1500+, as well as landing on the Billboard charts for emerging artists. Her music video for "Eternity Grows" appeared in five film festivals.
This Fall she releases Over Under, a collection of songs rotating around the idea that love is a cycle of confession and confrontation.
Her sound has been compared to Ingrid Michaelson, Regina Spektor, Ellie Holcomb, & Joanna Newsome.
