Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has sent a message of encouragement to Donny van de Beek after the Dutchman joined Everton on loan on deadline day.
Having moved to United for £40m in the summer of 2020 from Ajax, Van de Beek has been left sitting on the bench for a large portion of his United career, starting just four times in the Premier League in 18 months under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, then Ralf Rangnick.
And with no opportunities seemingly on the horizon, the playmaker left United to join Everton on loan - teaming up with new boss Frank Lampard - and Rashford tweeted his support for the Holland international.
Rashford said: 'My brother. Go show them what you can do.'
Van de Beek will wear the No 30 shirt at Goodison Park, with the Toffees paying the entirety of his £120,000-a-week contract for the remainder of the season.
Van de Beek's debut could come in the FA Cup fourth round against Brentford this Saturday at Goodison Park.
Crystal Palace and Valencia were also interested in the 24-year-old but a move to Merseyside will see Van de Beek attempt to get his career back on track.
'I had a really positive meeting with the new coach (Lampard). We have the same ideas about football and he had a lot of influence on my decision,' he said.
'I played against him when I was at Ajax, and he was at Chelsea [as manager], so he knows me as a player. He thinks I have qualities that can help the team.
'I can learn a lot from him because he was a little bit in the same position – a midfield player who scored a lot of goals. He can help me a lot, so I think I'm in a good spot.
'I want to improve with Everton. There are always things that can be better and I work hard every day to do that.
