Kim Tae Ri was born on 24 April, 1990 in Seoul. After graduating from Youngshin Business High School, Kim studied journalism and communication at Kyung Hee University from 2008 to 2012. She was urged to become an actress when she was in the second grade after she attended a college drama.
After She graduated from college. Kim worked for almost 12 years as a member of the technical group of a theater troupe in Daehakro. Later, she was cast as a standby in the 2012 production of Spoonface Steinberg. However, she was not able to perform on the stage. During this period, she acted in numerous quick movies and attended many auditions for movie roles, but faced multiple rejections.
In 2016, Kim made her film debut in the movieThe Handmaiden. She was selected from 1,500 auditioned actresses in this movie. For her performance in the films, she won the Blue Dragon Film Awards as the Best New Actress, Bill Film Awards, Director's Cut Awards, and Busan Film Critics Awards. The movie recounts her first success in the Korean industry.
In 2017, Kim starred in Political Thriller 1987: When the Day Comes, she was nominated for the Grand Bell Award for Best Actress.
In 2018, Kim, along with Ryu Jun-yeol, starred in the adaptation of the' Little Forest' cartoon series into Korean films, where she won the Director's Cut Award, and was nominated for the Blue Dragon Film Award, Baeksang Arts Awards, and Buil Film Awards.
That same year, Kim made her drama debut in her historic soap opera Mr. "Sunshine ", was nominated for the Best Actress Award in the "Baeksang Arts Awards" for her performance. The drama became one of the highest-selling series in Korean TV history.
In 2021, Kim appeared with Song Joong Ki in Korea's first space blockbuster "Space Sweepers". Where it receives a lot of praise by critics.
In 2022, Kim starred in TVN's adult drama "Twenty-Five, Twenty-one" along with Nam Joo-hyuk. Kim's acting as Naheedo captivated her viewers, and she was nominated for Best Actress at the Baeksang Arts Awards.
