Lee Mason has been removed from VAR duty for the next Premier League games
Video Referee Lee Mason has not been selected for VAR duties in the next round of Premier League fixtures after Newcastle had a goal controversially disallowed against Crystal Palace.
The goal, which would have been a winner in the 0-0 draw, was initially given by on-field referee Michael Salisbury, but was later overturned after Mason recommended that he reviewed the incident on the VAR monitor.
The goal was then chalked off for a perceived foul by Joe Willock on Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita in the build-up.
Lee Mason will not be one of the Premier League's VAR officials for the next round of games.
It comes after Newcastle had a goal controversially disallowed following a VAR check.
Newcastle co-owner Amanda Staveley said she 'hated' the decision to overturn the goal. She told Tyneside Life. 'I had a sleepless night, we should have won.
'I hated the VAR decision. Obviously, that's something we're dealing with, and it seems to be a consistent theme of the last few games.
PGMOL appear to accept decisions to overturn goals for Newcastle and West Ham were wrong.
The Professional Game Match Officials’ Board (PGMOL) admitted mistakes had been made in both the Newcastle game and Chelsea's clash with West Ham, where Maxwel Cornet's late would-be equaliser was ruled out after a VAR check.#Allyzulu #PremierLeague #sportsNews
