When the beat drops, I feel it all in my bones

That's when the words come to me to compose a poem

Each line brings life to my totem

Pole position in a race to my vision

I'm looking beyond the abstract

I plugged into the outlet at an early age

Misunderstood with misplaced anger and rage

Self destructive, with creativity leaking onto the page

It was something fun and therapeutic, quickly became addictive

Carried notebooks, homies were doodling

I was doing this

I was parallell to a world I would soon immerse in

Obtaining three of the four elements before my birthing

As I engage in various battles both seen and unseen

In this medium of expression I can bring some relief to me

Thus beginning the thorough cleansing of my soul

Gaining clarity and gaining some self-control

Seeing the hood in a better perspective from soul to soul

These sounds of blackness is the litmus

Testing everything like my skepticism is a gift

Maybe caused a few riffs because of it

I won't apologize if you think I take it too seriously

But it isn't a clićhe when I say music is everything to me

I'm just a hiphop kid that grew up

Still giving less than a few fucks annually

Like my salary needs more than a few bucks

I was bitten by the bug

The verses I heard had me smitten

Had to carry mittens for the headphones

'Cause the food for thought was scorching hot

Bouncing from house to house and soaking in these schools of thought

Collecting gems and tossing strange things

I'm just a fan and a student of this culture

The love formed by the introduction from my pops

But I was restricted due to my upbringing though
